About the Founders

The West Coast Outdoors & Sportfishing Expo was founded by Adam Casillas, Dr. Ron “Dr. A” Atanay, and Richard Ramos — three leaders united by a shared commitment to the outdoor industry and the communities that support it.

With over 40 years of combined experience producing successful expos and large-scale community events throughout Southern California, Adam and Richard have built proven platforms that connect businesses directly with consumers in meaningful, results-driven environments. Their work has fostered strong regional relationships while also developing industry partnerships that extend beyond the local market — giving the Expo both deep community roots and expanding industry reach.

Dr. Ron Atanay — widely known as “Dr. A” — brings both event-production expertise and a lifelong passion for sportfishing. In addition to organizing motorsports events in the past, he has pursued fishing as a sport around the world, embodying the adventurous spirit and respect for the outdoors that define this Expo. His experience in building high-energy, enthusiast-driven events adds another dynamic layer to the team.

Together, the three founders have worked alongside countless local service organizations, nonprofits, landings, captains, outfitters, tackle manufacturers, and conservation advocates across Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. They created the Expo with a clear mission: strengthen the outdoor industry, support the sportfishing community, and reconnect families to real-world experiences at a time when too many young people are disconnected from nature.
